I was born in 1961 in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, to my parents Bill and Lois. I was their last-born and second daughter. They also have one son. I, on the other hand, have two sons.
I took a leap of faith a few years back. After my divorce and when I felt ready, I decided to see if there was anyone out there that I could meet and become friends. I had been married 27 years and was experiencing a whole new life. I subscribed to Christian Mingle and was not having any luck. The men I was meeting were not what I was looking for. Some were downright creepy. I decided to end my subscription and move on. Then it happened.
On my last day at Christian Mingle, this guy's picture popped up. He had a unique name and I was curious. It showed that we matched in many areas of personality. In fact, only one item was different and that was because he didn't have kids. I had to inquire. I sent a message. I didn't think he'd respond because he was five hundred miles away, but he did. It was the best thing that ever happened.
We talked online for almost two months before we met in person. We hit it off! After a year of trips back and forth, many more by Marty, we married. The rest as you would say is history!
Seven months after we were married, Marty was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease. I never thought that so soon after we wed that God would allow us to walk the path of "in sickness or in health."
In closing, God doesn't give us what we can't handle, He gives us tools and the knowledge that he will be with us along the journey. I am a hospice nurse and previously served as a parish nurse for twelve years. These experiences will help us along the journey that life takes my soul mate and I on!
