CAN DO CANINES

Laverne joined our family in February 2017 and has been a blessing to Marty by assisting him in many tasks that are difficult for him to complete due to some of the complications of Parkinson's disease. She brings him his meds in the morning, helps him when he freezes or falls, and picks up some of the many objects that fall from Marty's hands.

As a result of Laverne's presence, Jean can return to being Marty's wife instead of doing everything for Marty.  Peace of mind is present is there for Jean knowing that if Marty falls, Laverne can bring Marty's phone to him - this has already happened on more than one occasion!

Laverne's cost of training was over $25,000, a cost absorbed by Can Do Canines and their generous donors! Her replacement cost of training is expected to be about twice as much. Would you consider a donation in honor of Marty? Click on the donate button to help.

Struthers Parkinson's Center

As a Parkinson’s Foundation Center of Excellence, Struthers provides top medical, rehabilitation and support services to help patients and their families navigate life with Parkinson’s. It’s their goal to give you the best available care to improve your daily life, along with the dedicated support of our team.

Upon the initial diagnosis, Marty and Jean looked for a movement disorder specialist who could assist them in their journey.

Their first appointment consisted of not only the doctor, but conversations and evaluations with occupational, physical and musical therapists; social workers; and even the doctor's nurse. You can expect and receive a thorough assessment, personalized treatment plan, healing rehabilitation services and resources for support along the way.

Struthers has been providing compassionate care for people with Parkinson’s disease for more than 40 years.Together, you can help improve the independence and quality of life for those living with Parkinson’s disease.
