That Sinking Feeling

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Wednesday, October 25, 2017, In : Faith

A friend of mine, who with her husband write a blog, posed an interesting question. If you could write a blog post based on a song, what song would you use to describe your life and why? It got me to thinking.

After careful consideration, I chose “How He Loves” by David Crowder Band. It is a song that has been present in my darkest time and my brightest.

Throughout my life I have made choices that sometimes where not in my best interest. These choices hurt not only me, but many others. ...

A Moment

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Saturday, February 14, 2015, In : Living
The flakes of snow lightly fell from the sky resting upon our shoulders. We walked hand in hand slowly darting into each store. I looked into her eyes and she into mine. For a brief moment, the world was ours.

She smiled at me and I at her. We didn't have to say it, but we did. "I love you," rolled off of each of our lips.

This is how we live life; for each moment. We know that these moments will be fewer in the future. This is our life.

"Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what...

Between The Lines

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Friday, January 30, 2015, In : Living

Have you ever thought how someone else views you? You can ask if they love you, but how do you know the depths of that love?  They may repeat “I love you” in return. But how do you know?

The past day started out as a good day in the terms of my illness. However, my goal for the gym was to ride a bike instead of being on the treadmill. One Year

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Sunday, June 8, 2014, In : Living
One year ago today, June 7, 2014, I married my best friend. We were given the tried and true advice that a real marriage is when you support each other through the good and bad, that you forgive, that you forget. Well, there is no forgetting the last 12 months.

In the past year, our family said hello to two more babies. Two of my sisters welcomed newborns into their homes; one by birth, the other through foster/adoption. But it doesn't matter how they arrived, it matters that they know love an...

A Whole New World

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Monday, February 24, 2014, In : Living
Oh how one's world and views within that world change after someone close to you is diagnosed with Parkinson's. Simple things that i once took for granted are no longer so simple.

Parking.  It used to be that I never paid much attention to the handicap parking signs in parking lots.  No, I never parked there, but I wasn't yet aware of how many people do, who really shouldn't.  There are those who park there, with their car running, apparently waiting for someone to come out.  Then there are th...

Living, Loving

Posted by Martin Lukaszewski on Friday, February 14, 2014,

As I sit and ponder the thought of this day, St. Valentine’s Day, I am amazed at how it has become so commercialized. It is like everyone has to get flowers, chocolates, and make plans to attend dinner somewhere romantic. But many don’t know that this feast of love, has to do first, with death.

Saint Valentine was martyred on February 14. In the Catholic Church the celebration of a saint is done on the death of the saint, their “birth” or "new life" into heaven. But then, which one?...

My Angel My Hero
